JN Spedition in Køge, Denmark and part of Skandinavisk Transport Center, has positioned itself as a sustainable player in the temperature-controlled food transportation industry. The company has installed a photovoltaic system on its roof which generates more energy than the site uses. Climate shields insulate the outer walls, LED lights reduce consumption further, and wild flowers in open areas encourage biodiversity.

The transition to green technology is also reflected in JN Spedition’s fleet. All the stackers, pallet trucks and reach trucks for internal transportation are fully electric. This means that they can be charged with green energy from the company’s own photovoltaic system.

“With this new Terberg we are fulfilling our green ambitions with the latest technology.” - Kenneth Bell, director and co-owner of JN Spedition

The arrival of the brand-new Terberg YT203 EV tractor marks another step on the green transition journey for JN Spedition. “We charge it with our self-generated surplus electricity in the morning, so it is ready to move the refrigerated trailers at the terminal in the afternoon. It is quiet, emission-free and effective,” says Kenneth Bell, director and co-owner of JN Spedition in Køge.

The new Terberg will help to optimise internal logistics by enabling a large number of refrigerated trailers to be moved to the right ramps at the right time. Kenneth Bell continues “Our terminal employees are very taken with the electric Terberg. It offers a high degree of comfort, with a quiet drive, easy access to the cabin and cables, improved suspension with minimal vibrations and good vision from the driver’s seat. It hasn’t taken the employees long to embrace the new technology.
